ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Monday said that the party will not accept rigging in general elections 2018 and will ensure that a ‘neutral umpire’ is appointed.
“The previous caretaker government failed to ensure fair elections in 2013. We will not let such happen this time around by making sure that a neutral umpire is appointed for the purpose of fair and transparent elections,” Imran said while speaking to the media in Islamabad.
Imran further claimed that in 2013, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lifetime president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari had made a covert deal.
“Zardari and Nawaz appointed their own umpires. All returning officers were involved in rigging and all political parties have admitted that the match was fixed,” the PTI chief added.
Taking jabs at PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, Imran said that the former PM’s daughter says that she does not own property abroad or in Pakistan, however, he added that Maryam herself admitted to owning assets, while JIT also revealed the ‘fraud’.
“Our only question is how did Nawaz Sharif earn all the money and how did he send it abroad?” Imran questioned.
