SHIKARPUR: Chup Tazia procession was held and moved through various parts of the city to pay homage to the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions during the battle of Karbala, on Monday.
Strict security measures were taken to ensure safe passage of the procession, in which at least five thousand women and two thousand men from all parts of the city participated. As a security measure, businesses in Chak area were closed and CCTV cameras installed on designated routes to monitor the processions. More than 1,500 Police personnel were deployed to ensure safety of the participants.
Shikarpur SSP Umar Tufail visited the procession route to review security arrangements and also called on ulemas to ask about the security measures.
All ulemas showed their satisfaction over the security measure and thanked the police for maintaining peace and law & order in the city.
