Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) Central Information Secretary Moula Bux Chandio on Monday asserted that his party would continue to support Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to safeguard democratic norms in the country.
Reportedly, he addressed a press conference at the Hyderabad press club to denounce certain policies of the federal government.
“Both PPP and PML-N have been working under immense pressure from the government, but we will never bow down in the struggle for real democracy in Pakistan,” he said, adding that it was inappropriate to call the sitting Prime Minister as ‘selected’ because circumstances, under which the general elections were conducted, were sno secret for the general public.
Commenting on what he called the rude attitude of PM Imran Khan and his ministers, he said that they have been behaving as if they were still protesting on container.
He claimed that the federal government has been formed as a result of rigging in the general elections, and it would soon reach its ‘destination’.
Chandio stated that the result of by-elections has indicated performance of the government.
He also ‘advised’ PM Imran Khan, and said that the government could not run by selling buffaloes and cars.
Later, he expressed profound concerns over deprivation of rights of journalists, who have been rendered jobless, and appealed to the government to negotiate with the media groups for their reinstatement.
SNT asks govt to recover looted wealth to curb inflation
The Sindh National Tehreek (SNT) on Monday demanded the federal government to ensure “merciless accountability” of corrupt politicians, and recover looted wealth and stolen assets of the country instead of raising prices of goods for domestic consumers and increasing taxes.
Reportedly, SNT Chairman Ashraf Noonari said that former rulers had looted national resources worth trillions of rupees by committing massive corruption.
“Instead of recovering looted wealth from Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, the PTI-led federal government has been ‘dropping price hike bombs’ on the poor masses,” he said.
He alleged that former rulers had plundered national exchequer as if it was their personal property, and made their fortunes abroad.
“Even their jiyalas have amassed billions of rupees,” he said.
He claimed that Nawaz Sharif has been kept in the prison for two months, whereas Asif Ali Zardari has been blackmailed by the government to force him to serve its interests instead of his arrest.
He advised Prime Minister Imran Khan that instead of imposing new taxes and approaching International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a financial bailout, the government should tighten its grip to punish corrupt politicians and land grabbers and forfeit their assets to recover from crippling financial crisis in the country.
