ISLAMABAD: The accountability court has dismissed the plea filed by Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz to postpone the announcement of the verdict in Avenfield properties reference, the decision will be announced today.
The accountability court judge, Muhammad Bashir, will issue the verdict today regarding Avenfield properties reference. The verdict was saved earlier by the court on July 3.
In this regard, the court has notified the accused to be present before the court and ordered the authorities to ensure their presence while the verdict is being announced.
Pertaining to the situation, strict security arrangements have been made, while all the roads toward the court have been blocked for common traffic.
It must be noted that in the reference along with Maryam Nawaz, other accused involve Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and Captain (retd) Safdar.
Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar have been appearing before the court, while Hassan and Hussain Nawaz have been declared ‘runagates’ by the court for failure to show in front of the court.
NAB’s article 9-A , which relates to an illegal transfer of money and gifts, has been invoked against the Sharif family. It can lead to fourteen years behind bars. Regarding Maryam Nawaz’s fake documents another article that is section 31- A, has also been invoked that can lead to three years in jail.
